For the last two years I have been making money from pinning on a Pinterest. Before I started this journey, I was on Pinterest all the time looking for new ideas and inspiration. So when I discovered it was possible to make money from pinning on Pinterest, I was ready to jump all in.

When I first started to make money on Pinterest, all I had was a Pinterest account. I didn’t have a blog.

For the first year, I focused on making money from just pinning on Pinterest. After a year had passed, I decided to start this blog because I wanted to teach others how to make money on Pinterest.

I am going to be 100% honest. Making money online from Pinning on Pinterest requires work, but it’s fun. You are your own boss. So you have control over how much work you want to put into it.

In the beginning, I know I didn’t do everything the right way. there was a lot trials and errors while I figured out what works, what doesn’t work, and what is a complete waste of time.

I know I didn’t do everything the right way or the easiest way, but I have learned from my mistakes and I know what works. Now I’m ready to teach you how to make money on Pinterest.

It is 100% possible that anyone can do this. You just need a Pinterest Business Account and you need to know what Affiliate Marketing is.

What is a Business Pinterest account?

A personal account and a business account are very similar but one main difference is a business account gives you access to reporting.

This means you can see stats and reports on your pins such as how many times it appeared on Pinterest, how many times it has been saved, how many times people clicked on it, and so much more!

It is easy to convert your existing Pinterest account to a business account. Don’t have a Pinterest account? You can create a new account.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing allows you to earn money through promoting and/or selling a product or service. If you put the work in, you could start earning money while you sleep.

Many people use affiliate Marketing in everyday life without even realizing it. So I bet you do too.

Think about it – have you ever loved a product or service and you want to tell everyone you know about it?

Imagine those companies gave you a special code or a unique link that you could share with your friends, family, coworkers, well, anyone. If those people purchase using your link or special code, that company would then pay you.

That is exactly what Affiliate Marketing is!

Here are two real life examples of Affiliate Marketing that you can relate to that will help you to understand what Affiliate marketing is:

Rakuten (formally known as Ebates) is a cash back and shopping rewards company. It is free to join but if you sign up through my referral link, you’ll earn $10 while I will earn $25. I use Rakuten everytime I shop online so I can get cash back for all my shopping. I think of it as getting paid to shop.

Many Banks and Credit Cards also offer referral bonuses. My Credit Card Company, will give me a referral bonus of $100 for every person that signs up through my link.

Affiliate marketing is where you earn commission for anyone that purchases through your special code or unique link. First you must join affiliate programs so they can assign you these unique code and links so they can track the sales you earn.

How TO USE AFFILIATE MARKETING WITH PINTEREST

Pinterest is considered a search engine. Millions of people use Pinterest every single month to search for a variety of things, such as fashion, DIY, recipes, home decor, gifts, and so much more.

Pinterest allows users to create their own content, called pins, and share them on Pinterest.

Pinterest also allows you to use Affiliate links with your Pinterest Pin. So when you create your own pins, you make the URL link your affiliate link. If a Pinterest User clicks your pin (which has your affiliate link), they’ll be brought to the retailers website, where they can make the purchase. If they do purchase something, you can earn a commission since they bought the item through your link.

Since Millions of people use Pinterest every month, Pinterest is a great way to get your affiliate links out there. You should only promote products you trust

Affiliate Programs

Before you start creating affiliate pins, you will need to join Affiliate Programs.

Once you join an affiliate program, make sure you read and understand their terms. The terms will tell you how you get paid, when you get paid, the cookie window, and other important information.

If you are looking for affiliate programs to join, check out my post Affiliate Programs You Should Join Today

What is an Affiliate disclosure?

Before you get started, please note that the FTC has made regulations that you must follow.

Every time you post an affiliate link, the FTC requires that you disclose this information. All you need to do is add a hashtag to Pin description such as #ad #affiliate #affiliatelink.

How to make money on Pinterest

If you love to use Pinterest then you should start making money by Pinning on Pinterest.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been using affiliate marketing for over 2 years now. I have learned so many tips and tricks along the way. I know what works, what doesn’t work, and what is a complete waste of time.

Pinterest is constantly updating their processes and algorithms, and I’ve always stayed on top of it. Currently I am reaching over 9 Million people on Pinterest. I’ve created hundreds of viral pins that have brought in hundreds of dollars.

Affiliate marketing is such a great way to make extra money or bring in full time income! And doing it with Pinterest is just so much fun! I’ve been doing Pinterest affiliate marketing for over a year and just love that I can actually earn money while doing something I love (playing on Pinterest)!

Very informative post Kelly. I am also using Shop Style Collective, just started a couple months ago. Do you design your own pins or do you just use the SSC website and pin directly from it? Thanks for the info!

I do both! I try to design more of my own as I think they convert better.
