Do you love the farmhouse look as much as I do? It is easy to achieve the farmhouse look by adding a large clock on the wall.
Scrolling through Pinterest one day, I came across a picture of a dining room with a very large Roman Numeral Clock on the wall. We were still waiting to close on the house but I knew I wanted to find the same clock and put it on the wall in the dining room. I wanted the dining room to be one of the (many) first projects. When we finally closed on the house, there were a few rooms we wanted to paint right away. One of those rooms was the dining room. It looked and felt very dated so we knew it needed some attention.
Here is a before picture:
Paint can go a long way: two different shades of gray, and the trim got a new coat of white paint.
Now I was off to find the clock (before we even thought about shopping for a dining room table). I just wanted that clock on my wall.
I ended up finding the exact same clock for $750. I couldn’t believe it cost that much. Unfortunately, it was not in the budget. I was bummed but we had so many projects lined up so I decided to skip the clock for now and focus on other house projects.
A few weeks later, I was out shopping with my sister. I was poking around a store and when I turned down the next aisle, I saw the clock. There it was, up on the wall. The clock was HUGE and I absolutely loved it (even though it was the wrong color. I knew a little paint could fix that). My dining room has a chair rail down the center of the wall so I wasn’t sure if the clock would fit since I never measured the space.

The clock was over 4 ft so I was worried about the size. I was afraid it was too big. So while in the store, I went online to see if they sold it on their website, and they did! Since the clock was over 4 ft, and the store I was at was over an hour away from my home, I decided not to buy it just in case it was the wrong size. As soon as I got home, I measured the space and was so happy it was the perfect size. So I ordered it that night.
I was so excited when the clock came in. My fiance helped me paint it black. We let it dry over night and hung it up the next day.
Here is the finished product on the wall (with our new dining room set). The clock makes a vibrant statement. I am still working on adding finish touches to the room, but you can see the clock fits perfect.
